🎙️ Podcast Title:
The Power of the Daily: Why Small Habits Matter More Than Big Goals
________________
🎧 Episode Script:
Hi friends, and welcome back to Running to Myself—where we connect the miles on the road to the journey inside. I’m so glad you’re here.
Today, I want to talk about something that might not sound all that exciting at first…
But stick with me—because it has the power to completely change the way you think about health, progress, and what’s really possible for you.
It’s this simple truth:
Your wellness is built in the small, daily moments.
Not just the big, dramatic goals.
Not the races.
Not the once-in-a-while breakthroughs.
But the ordinary, quiet, consistent habits that you show up for—day after day.
________________
Let me take you back to when I first started running…
Back then, I was only motivated by the next goal. The next race.
If there wasn’t a finish line in sight, I wasn’t running.
At all.
To be honest, I didn’t enjoy running at first.
What I did enjoy was achieving the goal—finishing the race, checking the box, crossing something off the list. I was chasing the result, not the process.
But over time—years, really—that started to change.
I began to enjoy the daily runs. Maybe not every run, but most of them.
And I started to miss it when I skipped a day.
The shift was subtle… but powerful.
I stopped running just to get somewhere.
I started running because of who I became while I was running.
________________
Eventually, the races mattered less.
I didn’t need to train for some big “A” race to justify showing up.
Instead, I found myself focused on something deeper:
Maintaining a foundation.
I wanted to feel strong.
I wanted to feel clear.
I wanted to stay ready—not in a pressure-filled, perfectionistic way—but in a peaceful, grounded way.
I realized I was no longer building my fitness from scratch every time a new race came along.
Because I’d already built it—through the steady rhythm of daily movement.
Walks, runs, hikes.
Little things, done consistently.
________________
And you know what?
The same principle applies to every part of your life.
Especially your wellness.
Your physical health.
Your mental clarity.
Your emotional strength.
These things aren’t built overnight.
They’re built in the quiet routines.
In what you eat.
In how you move.
And—this one’s big—in how you think.
________________
In fact, this week in my email to subscribers, I shared this reminder:
“Your health—physical, emotional, and mental—is built from the totality of small, daily habits.”
Not from the major overhauls.
Not from the ‘new year, new you’ hype.
But from what you repeat on the ordinary Tuesdays and quiet Saturdays when no one’s watching.
So I want to ask you a gentle question today:
💬 What foundation are you building right now?
* What are your daily habits pointing you toward?
* Are they nurturing your wellness—or quietly working against it?
And here’s the best part:
You don’t need to change everything.
You don’t need a perfect plan.
You don’t even need motivation.
You just need one small step.
Taken today.
Repeated tomorrow.
Stacked over time.
That’s what builds real health.
That’s what creates emotional strength.
That’s what gives you the freedom to enjoy your life—not just when the big goals are on the calendar, but every single day.
